Schezwan Chicken

Schezwan Chicken is one of the most popular This dish is full of nutrition as it is prepared with combination of chicken, vegetables; and gravy of chicken stock, chili sauce, soya sauce and ketchup. You can serve it as side or main dish with boil rice and fried rice. I have added some Indian spice too, so it makes this dish Indochinese combo . I did not add vegetables while making this recipe as it was already late reaching home after a tiresome journey on Sunday. So just made a quick recipe which took me max 30 mins and side ways the Ghee rice was prepared which was done in between the same interval, Isn't it quite quick when you are really hungry and want to have some heavy meal :P

    • 1 kg chicken (small pieces) [Marinate the chicken 10min in pepper powder, lemon juice & ginger garlic paste]
    • Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
    • Saunf 1 tbsp (crushed in pestle & motor)
    • 6 green chilli
    • 1 lemon juice (chicken marination)
    • Ginger garlic paste 3 tbsp (chicken marination)
    • Ginger flakes (smash it well using pestle & motor)
    • 4 medium onions finely chopped
    • 1 medium tbsp pepper powder (chicken marination)
    • 2 packs of Schezwan powder (You can also use Schezwan Sauce
    • 2 tbsp Soya sauce
    • 3 big tbsp tomato ketchup
    • Fistful of coriander leaves finely chopped
    • Salt to taste
  • Schezwan Chicken Method-1

    Fry Cumin, Saunf. When you smell the aroma of spice add the chopped onions. Fry the onions well until they turn transparent brown. Now add the marinated chicken, stir well. Add little of salt around a tbsp only and mix well. Close the vessel with a lid & keep the chicken to cook for 10 mins under small flame.

    After 10 mins you see the chicken has left its water, now add the smashed garlic green chillies and mix well. Leave it to cook for another 5 mins closing the lid.

  • Schezwan Chicken Method-3

    Later add 2 tbsp of soya sauce, 3 tbsp tomato ketchup & Schezwan Powder and mix well. Keep stiring the content for 5 mins under big flame

    ( You can also use the Schezwan sauce, I havnt fried the chicken here, they are marinated and then cooked along the sauces and Schezwan Powder )

    Now add the finely chopped coriander leaves and serve along meals/ fried rice or ghee rice/bread/Roti.
